Pupils and staff at Inverness Royal Academy got stuck into a big breakfast in aid of a national charity appeal.
For a seventh year the school participated in the STV Children’s Appeal Big Scottish Breakfast to raise funds for vulnerable children across Scotland.
This year participants managed to raise £315.81 for the cause.
Their efforts will provide support to 220,000 children – one in four – currently living in poverty in Scotland and likely missing out on the kinds of things many others take for granted, such as breakfast.
Teacher and big breakfast organiser Aliette Danielo said: “We hold this fundraiser to support Scottish children as there are 220,000 young people in Scotland living in poverty.
"I feel like it also sends an important message to our students about the value in getting that first meal of the day which jump-starts your metabolism.
"It is so important, especially at school as if you don't eat breakfast in the morning it does affect your academic performance.”
Pupils from S3 and S6 helped serve up the breakfast, with options including porridge, breakfast bars, fruit and donuts.
Pupils were asked to wear either a splash of tartan or a hat – the more creative the better – as part of the event.
Mark Fernando’s dazzling headpiece was a winner in a best hat competition while Eden McSkimming's blueberry baked oats recipe was named best healthy breakfast in a recipe competition on the day.
