More than 130 people auditioned for the first-ever show of a new Inverness production company.

Set up in 2023 by TFX Performing Arts Academy's owner Sally Robertson and singing teacher Alan Mackintosh, Ness Entertainment will be taking their first musical show, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat to Eden Court this summer.

Auditions were held in Inverness earlier this month, with around 100 children and 30 adults auditioning for various roles.

Ms Robertson, who has previously worked in professional productions, said she was amazed by the talent shown by local amateur performers.

"The response has been great," she said. "I was so surprised by the level of talent in an amateur group.

"It's very exciting to be working on this new show. I haven't worked on any production for 12 years and I felt the need to get my production hat back on, get back in an artistic mode.

"We have had some TFX pupils auditioning - but we aimed to be fair and give space to other local talent in the show.

"We'll work with many adults we haven't worked before, and we had many children auditioning so we decided to split them in two groups so that they can each perform in part of the show."

Joining the landscape of other amateur musical theatre companies in Inverness, Ness Entertainment hopes to provide another space to showcase the talent in Inverness and surrounding areas.

The choice of the show is, according to Ms Robertson, really important.

"We are not established, but I think as long as you have a good show title, it will draw people in. Joseph is such a great story with amazing songs, it's a very uplifting show and tickets have been selling faster than we expected!"

Rehearsals will start in April, with the show opening at Eden Court on June 26 – where it will run for three days, including a sing-along show on the Saturday.

Tickets can be booked online or contacting Eden Court.
