Around 120 people helped to raise more than £40,000 for charity at a special event in the grounds of Culloden House Hotel.
The ‘prosecco picnic’ was in aid of the Highlands and Islands branch of the Archie Foundation which is involved in the children’s unit at Raigmore Hospital.
Branch chairwoman Mary Nimmo said they originally intended to hold the event just last Saturday but its high demand prompted staging it last Sunday as well. She said: “It was a phenomenal success. It was a new event and the support we got was amazing and the staff at the Culloden Hotel were outstanding.”
Entertainment for the weekend was provided by Kenny Smith and Michael MacMillan, from the band Torridon, and Mrs Nimmo said: “The music was amazing and Kenny is our newest patron in the Highlands.”
There were also games and a charity auction to help raise the funds.
Mrs Nimmo said they may organise another picnic next year, adding: “I think we probably will – it was intended to be a one-off but the feedback has been positive so I am sure we will organise another.”
