Firefighters from Inverness, Beauly and Fortrose tackled the fire which was reported to be out just before midnight.

This morning, police officers retained a presence at the end-of-terrace property which remained cordoned off.

Damage to the house, including a collapsed roof, was clearly visible while debris and waste was scattered in the garden.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said four fire appliances from Inverness plus one from Beauly and another from Fortrose attended the scene.
