A 50-strong group of singers with learning difficulties enjoyed a wonderful festive celebration together at the Merkinch Community Centre just before Christmas.
Along with around 30 carers, the Rainbow Singers were treated to a party packed with fun and games, songs, laughter and presents.
The adult group meets at the Inverness premises every Tuesday during the year to enjoy fun and sociable sing-alongs under the guidance of Merkinch Community Centre development officer Elsie Normington.
“The Christmas party was a roaring success, with lots of the members really excited and wearing their Christmas jumpers,” Mrs Normington said. “We included a lot of games like pass the parcel, the birthday dance and the hokey-cokey.
“They really enjoyed themselves and, of course, they had Santa Claus come and visit them as well, and one of the highlights was the story he had to tell them.
“He said he had been so busy but that his most favourite place was the Rainbow Singers’ Christmas party.
“They were all thrilled with their presents and a lot of them wanted a hug with Santa.”
