Highland region’s unsung heroes recognised at celebration in Inverness

The very best of the region’s unsung heroes have been recognised at a celebration in Inverness.

More than 400 people were at the Drumossie Hotel for the annual Highland Heroes event - a special occasion staged by Highland News and Media to recognise those among us who may not otherwise receive such recognition.

All the award winners were:

• Brave child: Melissa Mathieson.

• Primary pupil: Angus MacDonald.

• Primary teacher: Elaine Maciver.

• Secondary pupil: Orlagh MacIver.

• Secondary teacher: Rachel Cavellini.

• School: Inverness High School.

• Volunteer: Daniel Russell.

• Healthcare: Mid Ross Rehabilitation Team.

• Emergency service or crisis support service: Mikeysline.

• Charitable organisation: Special Needs Action Project (SNAP).

• Fundraiser: Marie Anne Cormack.

• Community champion: Peter Corbett.

• Green hero: Loch Ness Hub.

• Carer: Liam Bremner.

• Hero of heroes: Peter Corbett.
