Delivery firm seeking to convert empty Inverness industrial unit into parcel centre

General news.
General news.

A WELL-KNOWN delivery firm is hoping to convert an empty industrial unit in Inverness into a temporary parcel distribution centre.

A planning application for the site at Carsegate Road North, on the Carsegate Industrial Estate, has been submitted to Highland Council by Macritchie Highland Distribution.

The application is currently under consideration.

If successful, the centre is expected to occupy the site for five years.

The plans include the addition of four parking spaces and so far two consultees have responded to the application.

After examining the proposal Network Rail considered that it would have no impact on its railway infrastructure and therefore had no comments or objections to the application.

However, the Transport Planning department at Highland Council has made a number of recommendations.

These include changes to the parking arrangements at the site.

They have also called for the addition of a cycle parking facility to accommodate visitors and staff travelling by bicycle.
