Police continue to appeal for witnesses after Inverness veterinary practice worker left with life-changing injuries when hit by lorry
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses in the wake of an accident that has left a woman pedestrian with "life-changing" injuries.
The incident happened at around 12.45pm in the Crown area on Friday when 57-year-old Erica Campbell, a veterinary practice worker, was hit by a lorry.
She was initially taken to Raigmore Hospital but later transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
Mrs Campbell, a client services assistant at Crown Vets in Argyle Street, remains in a serious condition.
Practice manager Sandra Campbell said Mrs Campbell is very popular among staff and customers.
"This is a really tragic situation," she said.
"Everyone in the practice wishes her a speedy recovery. We all miss her.
"Our thoughts are with her and her family."
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said inquiries were continuing and officers were appealing for any witnesses.
Mrs Campbell was walking along Southside Road and crossing on to Crown Street when she was hit by a white Mercedes lorry, which was turning into Crown Street.
Sergeant Kate Park said: "This woman has sustained life-changing injuries and it is vital we find out the full circumstance surrounding this incident.
"We are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time, or anyone who has businesses or property nearby with personal security cameras.
"Anyone who saw the lorry prior to the incident is also asked to get in touch with police. We urge you to come forward.
"In particular, we are keen to speak to the driver of a silver pick-up truck who was directly behind the lorry in Southside Road, prior to the lorry turning into Crown Street."
