Inverness court car park police could smell drugs when at teen’s vehicle
A teenager who donated his bone marrow for a stem cell transplant to save a life was caught by police in charge of his vehicle while under the influence of cannabis.
Mechanical engineering student Rory Stainsby (18), of Nairnside, near Inverness was found in the Inverness Justice Centre car park at about 9pm on the night of April 1 last year.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that the officers detected a strong smell of the Class B drug and after a test, Stainsby had 4.4mcgs of the drug's metabolite in his system when the legal driving level is 2mcgs.
He admitted the offence and Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald fined him £380 and endorsed his driving licence with 10 penalty points.
Defence solicitor John MacColl said: "He displayed an error of judgement on this occasion and I am confident that it will be his one and only court appearance. A couple of years ago he registered as a stem cell donor and he came back as a match. He travelled to London to donate his bone marrow and saved someone's life.
"A new date for his court hearing was set to allow him to make the donation."
