POLL RESULT: Majority of participants felt that the Clootie Well in Munlochy in Ross-shire should not have been cleared up

For centuries people have been leaving cloths at the Clootie Well in Munlochy on the Black Isle.

However, when it was recently cleared by a mystery stranger because she felt it looked like an eyesore, it sparked a fierce debate which divided opinion.

Some people agreed with the move because they also felt it looked a mess but others were upset by what had happened because the items were left for loved ones.

In a recent poll we asked readers whether they felt that the site needed clearing up or should it have been left alone?

The vast majority of participants disagreed with the woman's actions, 82 per cent, compared with 18 per cent who agreed and no one said that they did not care
