Possible new Covid-19 restrictions could be imposed, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has warned
The First Minster has said new lockdown restrictions could be put in place soon, to stem the growth in Covid-19 cases.
During her daily briefing today the First Minister said that there is "a rising tide of infection across the country".
She added: "It is possible that we will have to do more.
"There may well be a need for some further restrictions in the near future."
Over the past 24 hours there have been 697 positive Covid results confirmed across Scotland, bringing the total number of positive tests to 32,906.
There were no deaths during the past 24 hours, but Ms Sturgeon warned that there is often a backlog following a weekend.
Four deaths of people with a confirmed coronavirus diagnosis have also been registered since the last briefing on Friday.
Cases in Greater Glasgow and Clyde have risen by 242 overnight, while another 130 have occurred within Lanarkshire.
Today a further seven positive cases were reported within the NHS Highland area.
