Of votes cast, 91 per cent said the title should be taken away from him.
It comes as he faces a US civil action over sexual assault allegations – claims he has consistently denied.
His military titles and royal patronages have already been returned to the Queen.
There are now growing calls – including from some city politicians – for him to lose the title of Earl of Inverness which he has held since 1986, following his marriage to Sarah Ferguson.
People have also posted their comments on social media.
Lorraine Mann posed the question: "Why should there be Earls (of anywhere) at all?"
Another said: "Just remove titles all together. They are utterly pointless."
