An attack in an Inverness pub which left a 20-year-old seriously injured has been branded as “senseless”.

The incident happened in the early hours of today at Johnny Foxes bar in Bank Street.

In a post on social media, the pub thanked police officers and the paramedics who attended the incident.

It also said it would not open until 5pm today and thanked everyone for their understanding.

Police were called to the premises after being made aware of a disturbance shortly after 12.40am.

The 20-year-old man was taken to hospital.

A social media post signed by Don, Tina and the team at Johnny Foxes and Den stated: “As many of you will be aware, there was a serious assault in our venue last night and we are assisting the police with their ongoing enquiries.

“We would like to thank everyone for their messages of concern and best wishes for the welfare of the young man who was seriously injured and our team who were on hand dealing with this senseless attack.

“We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the police officers and the paramedics who attended this incident and appreciate all their assistance and support.”
