Public called on for ideas to improve safety in Inverness

INVERNESS residents will be asked to give their ideas on how to make the city a safer place.

The new Inverness Community Safety Partnership — which includes Northern Constabulary — will stage an open discussion hosted by city provost Jimmy Gray at the Town House on 27th October.

"This is an opportunity for people to tell us what matters to them and how the partnership can work together with the community to ensure that we are tackling the issues and areas of concern in a robust and practical way," said partnership chairman Jim Ferguson, who is also chairman of the Highlands and Islands branch of Crimestoppers.

It is hoped that the event — which starts at 7pm — will help form priorities for the partnership.

"It is important that the community engage with the partnership in order that community concerns can be addressed and that our resources are targeted in the proper direction," said police chief inspector Jim Neil, the partnership’s vice-chairman.
