Members of the public got the chance to view plans and have a say over an Inverness housing development this afternoon.

Kirkwood Homes is hoping to build 80 new homes, 20 of which would be classed as affordable, on a site 255m south of the Drumossie Hotel where a public consultation was held this afternoon.

The site already has planning permission, since 2015, for mixed tourism use but the landowner has not yet developed it.

Allan Rae, Kirkwood's land director, said: "The site has capacity for more but we are trying to keep it as a reasonable density."

The properties would be a mixture of three bedroom semi-detached and detached, four bedroom detached and five bedroom detached homes.

Mr Rae said the development had been designed to be similar to neighbouring properties and added: "It's fairly well self-contained."

Springfield Homes Homes is currently developing a nearby site and a planning application has been submitted for a site next to that development.

Mr Rae said there would be two online consultation sessions tomorrow and another on June 29.

The developer is hoping to submit a planning application to Highland Council by mid-August.
