NHS Highland announced hot water supply at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness is at ‘potential risk of contamination’





NHS Highland shared that there has been “potential risk of contamination” to the hot water supply in the tower block of Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

This could have occurred as a result of routine maintenance works.

Disinfection measures have taken place since the issue was identified, with a programme of testing and verification in place as a precautionary measure.

A spokesperson said that until that testing is complete, additional processes such as water filtering and flushing will be put in place as a precautionary measure to reduce any residual risk to patients and staff.

An NHS Highland spokesperson said: “NHS Highland takes the safety of our patients and staff very seriously and we have taken expert advice throughout the process.

“Our patients and staff have been informed and we are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.”

The cold water supply has not been affected, and sampling is taking place and will be repeated until NHS Highland receives confirmation that the samples are satisfactory.
