Further engineering disruption expected to hit some Highland mainline rail journeys this weekend; Inverness-Glasgow passengers are being warned that buses will replace trains between Perth and Glasgow Queen Street on Sunday

A SECOND weekend of disruption is set to affect railway passengers on some Highland mainline services.

Buses will replace trains between Perth and Glasgow Queen Street this coming Sunday to enable engineering work to take place between Stirling and Dundee.

The disruption, which only affects services on the Inverness-Glasgow route, comes after two days of disruption on Saturday and Sunday when buses replaced trains on journeys between Inverness and Perth. Those closures were linked to unconnected engineering work between Perth and the Highland capital.

Further bus replacements will also be required for parts of journeys between Inverness and Glasgow over the next several weekends – November 29, December 5-6 and 12-13. Further engineering is also expected between December 27 and 31. These are linked to engineering in the Stirling and Dunblane area.
