Highland Council will be carrying out its annual maintenance and training exercise in relation to the flood gates on the River Ness tomorrow between 9am and 1pm.

This will involve closing the flood gates on the flood wall between the harbour area and the Ness Bridge.

A council spokesman said: "While every effort will be made to minimise disruption, there will be periods when access at some of the gates may not be possible, but we will try to limit the closures to as short a time as possible.

"In particular, the Greig Street bridge gates will be closed and it is recommended that the public avoid this particular crossing of the river during the time of the exercise."
