A new riverside nightclub could open in the heart of Inverness after plans were lodged with Highland Council.

Applicant Mars Projects Ltd is seeking permission for a change of use of existing office accommodation at 6 Ardross Terrace.

Mars Projects is majority owned by the Mars Hospitality Group, which runs the nearby Tiger on the Wall restaurant in Ardross Terrace’s Strathness House Hotel, and also owns Black Sheep Hotels - the operator of the famous Cluanie Inn in Wester Ross, and Rokeby Manor in Invergarry.

If approved, the plan for 6 Ardross Terrace would see the three-storey property converted into five holiday let accommodation units on the first and second floors.

A nightclub/bar with dance floor would also be created on the ground floor in the rear half of the building. This would be accessed via its own door from Ardross Terrace, while the plans suggest that existing ground floor office space facing the riverside would remain ‘as is’, with its own entrance providing separate entry. Both entrances already exist.

The plan does not say what the developer plans to do with the ground floor office space facing the riverside.

Meanwhile, three holiday flats would be located on the first floor of the building, comprising one two-bed property and two one-bedroom units, while the upper floor would accommodate another two-bedroom unit and a one-bedroom one. Each unit would also boast living/dining rooms and bathrooms. The two two-bedroom lets would both face the riverside.

It is not known how many jobs would be created by the new bar, or how much money will be invested in the project.

Mars Projects Ltd and their agents, Farningham Planning Ltd, have both been approached for comment and further details about the plans.
