Meeting delayed as Park Primary School parents await reasons behind Invergordon fire
PARENTS of pupils who went to a school devastated by fire will have to wait longer than expected for answers.
The meeting of Park Primary parents in Invergordon was due to take place this week, but has not happened and Highland Council is still to confirm when it will take place.
The school was destroyed in a fire caused by a faulty laptop that exploded into flames. No-one was injured in the fire on February 24.
At a public meeting on the following day, council chief executive Donna Manson said there would be an “adults only” meeting to discuss the reasons behind the fire.
Meanwhile, regional MSP David Stewart has been pursuing the issue of sprinklers in schools, something he believes would slow down the rate of fires similar to the one at Park Primary.
He has received a letter from Deputy First Minister John Swinney, who is also Scotland’s education secretary, and is willing to discuss the issue.
