Scottish singer Nathan Evans opens up about mental health battle

A SCOTTISH singer has opened up about his own battle with mental health, as he shares words of wisdom promising fans that “there is light at the end of the tunnel.”

Ahead of his show at the Strathpeffer Pavilion last night (March 24), singer-songwriter Nathan Evans shared a clip with mental health charity, Mikeysline, explaining more about how quickly his life changed.

Nathan has been travelling across Scotland, alongside the Saint Phnx Band, on his 1994 Tour. He first gained fame in 2020 after positing videos of himself on TikTok singing sea shanties.

In the video, Nathan explains: “Everyone goes through their own struggles and their own problems in life, but if it weren’t for the lows then the highs wouldn’t feel very high.

“I just want to let you all know that I promise there is light at the end of the tunnel. Take me as an example: I made a voice note on the 18th of August 2020, and it was the worst point of my life. Six months later, Weatherman blew up and completely changed my life in the blink of an eye. That voice note went on to be what is now the start of Paper Planes, a song on the album, so I promise there is light at the end of the tunnel.

“It might seem like there isn’t at times, but just keep your head up and keep going. I use my music as a sort of therapy and when I put it out into the world, hopefully other people can relate.

“Speaking out loud to someone, face-to-face, makes more of a difference than you could ever, ever imagine. It might seem like the hardest task ever, but honestly it works wonders.

“If you’re ever having a hard time, please speak to someone and be the change. Thanks to Mikeysline for doing what you’re doing, and keep it up. Let’s make a change — it’s okay not to be okay.”

Mikeysline said: “Thank you Nathan for being such an inspiring, talented, heart on your sleeve kinda guy! We appreciate you, your kindness and your incredibly important message.

“A special thank you to our pals at Strathpeffer Pavilion for making this happen for us!”
