Scottish Water to start work on £1.8m project in Inverness
A £1.8 million project to renew the water network in Dalneigh will start later this month.
The scheme will be delivered by Scottish Water’s delivery alliance partner Caledonia Water Alliance and is expected to take around 12 months to complete.
The work – starting on August 17 – will involve the phased renewal of around 4.7km of water main, serving around 3500 people to reduce the risk of burst pipes.
The initial phase of work, running to the end of the year, will be in Hawthorn Drive, Caledonian Road, Limetree Avenue, Lilac Grove, Maple Drive, Rowan Road, St Francis Gardens and St Margaret’s Road.
Project manager Keith MacKinnon said: “The work we are about to begin is essential to ensure that Scottish Water customers in Dalneigh can continue to receive a high quality and reliable water supply in the years ahead.
“Work will take place on a phased basis over the next 12 months and will involve rolling closures of sections of road within Dalneigh, with local signposted diversions. Our site team will display information to alert local residents before each phase of work begins and do all we can to maintain access and minimise disruption as far as possible.
“Strict measures will be in place to ensure that all work takes place in line with Scottish Government and Construction Scotland guidelines to safeguard our own team and the community during the Covid-19 pandemic. We would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while we work to keep Scotland’s water flowing.”
Water supply in the are will be disrupted at times during the work.
A Scottish Water spokesman said: "Where customers are affected by this, they will be notified in advance with details of the date and time of planned work and advice about what to do."
