Scouts in Inverness area promise Christmas post will return in 2021 after 2020's deliveries were cancelled due to Covid-19 pandemic uncertainty
A FIXTURE of the Inverness Christmas season will be back in 2021, organisers have pledged.
The decision to cancel this year's Inverness Scout Post was taken earlier this autumn in the wake of continued uncertainty around the Covid-19 pandemic.
The special postal system acts as an alternative to the Royal Mail every Christmas, with people paying a small fee to have their festive cards delivered to local addresses – raising vital funds for the Scouts in the progress.
And, in recent days, posters have been appearing in shops across the Highland capital to remind the public that this year's Scout Post collections have been put on hold for a year as a safety measure.
"Unfortunately due to the ongoing uncertainty with the coronavirus crisis, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year's Scout Post," said a spokesman on the posters.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding. We will look forward to seeing you Christmas 2021!"
