The man also attempted to bite nursing staff in the incident earlier this summer.
Raymond Marshall (35), of Hill Street, Dingwall, previously appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court to admit the police assault and attempted assault against three nurses and a doctor at New Craigs Hospital, Inverness on July 18.
Sentence had been deferred to September 16 for a report and restriction of liberty assessment.
This week, however, the court heard these were not ready.
Sentence was further deferred to October 14.
