SEPA issue flood warnings for Strathcarron and Strath Oykel amid alerts across Highlands of snow melt and forecast rain
Flood warnings are in place for Strathcarron and Strath Oykel.
Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) raised warnings for both areas earlier this morning, in the wake of snow melting across the region and further rainfall expected.
SEPA has warned that agricultural land in Strathcarron, and at Strath Oykel, from Oykel Bridge to Inveroykel Bailey Bridge and at Invercassley, is at particular risk of flooding.
Inveroykel Bailey Bridge may also be inaccessible.
SEPA has also advised that the river level at Easter Turnaig gauging station exceeded 1.6 metres at 2am earlier today.
General flood alerts are also in place for Wester Ross, Easter Ross and Great Glen, with snow melt expected from today, as well as outbreaks of rain.
Impacts may include flooding of low lying land and roads, disruption to travel, and localised property flooding.
