Silence as the fallen are remembered in Inverness

SILENCE fell over a large crowd in Inverness as young and old paid tribute to those who have fallen in conflict.

As communities across the region took part in a programme of Remembrance events, the largest gathering was in the Highland capital where a parade took place ahead of a poignant service at the war memorial in Cavell Gardens.

Former and serving military personnel joined politicians, civic leaders, cadets youth organisations and members of the public.

Among the wreaths was one by the Vice-Lord Lieutenant of Inverness-shire Colonel Douglas Young as well as one by the Inverness branch of the PDSA in tribute to animals killed during conflict.

The weekend events also included two performances by the Inverness Military Wives Choir at Inverness Cathedral.
