A Wych Elm in the Highlands was the inspiration for artist Isabel McLeish.

The 24-year-old recently took part in the Inverness Creative Academy's CiRCUS Artspace Graduate Associate Programme.

And her work is now on display in a two part exhibition at the city's Midmills Building.

She was moved by the tree which sits in the grounds of Beauly Priory.

Isabel said: “It's 800 years old and only five per cent of it is living. It is dying of Dutch Elm disease.

“I just think it's fantastic to think what it's lived through and seen in 800 years.”

Isabel used prints including a wood engraving and steel etching in her work on display as well as a dark room print, courtesy of the Academy's facilities.

She added: “It's been really great to explore one tree in such a way.”

Terrafabulations and Cianalas runs at Inverness Creative Academy until Saturday (April 2).
