Inverness pub hit by stranded Alloa woman
An angry boyfriend left his girlfriend stranded in Inverness with nowhere to go so she broke into an Inverness pub to drown her sorrows and get arrested.
Inverness Sheriff Court heard that 30-year-old Ellie Bridges, of Greenfield Street, Alloa was reported to police trying to smash her way into Dows in Hilton at around 9am on October 27, last year.
Fiscal depute Adelle Gray told Sheriff Gary Aitken that officers were tasked to attend the scene and saw Bridges standing at the conservatory window and she was arrested.
Ms Gray added: "She was searched and a bottle of wine was found as well as a bottle of Coca Cola. She also had a bottle of Prosecco, two bottles of Rose and one of Chardonnay - some of which had been partially consumed.
"CCTV showed she had climbed in through an insecure window."
Bridges admitted theft by housebreaking.
Her lawyer, Ruairidh Hood told the court that his client was currently on remand for another matter.
He added that she had an alcohol problem.
"She had been left stranded in Inverness after an argument with her boyfriend and had nowhere to go. She thought she would get lifted by the police and transported home. She was wrong."
Sheriff Aitken jailed Bridges, who admitted previous convictions, for 10 months.
