Fury at reckless campers

Glen Affric avoided a devastating wildfire by “pure luck” it was reported, after grotesquely irresponsible campers hacked down trees and left their makeshift campsite like a “disaster area”.

“All visitors are welcome to our beautiful part of the world but this behaviour is abhorrent- do they not understand the consequences of their selfish actions. So much time money and development has been spent in this area - these idiots are the last thing we need.” - Allison Cassie

“Terrible, so many ignorant people out there.” - Anne Mackintosh

“Need found and punished with a spell in jail. Should also have to pay for time and resource used by emergency services.” - Shaun Simpson

“Just blatant disregard for our beautiful countryside. Obviously also have too much money to burn if they’re able to just dump their gear instead of taking it home. This was one of my late grandfather’s favourite places in the world, he even wrote ceilidh tunes about it and it saddens me that people would do this.” - Alan Mark Mackay

“Folk like that ruin it for the responsible campers who just want a night under the stars in peace and quiet. Tidy your mess up, it doesn't take much - and if you can't do that don't go camping in Scotland.” - Diane Laird

“Here we go again, a wee bit of sunshine brings stupid out!!!!” - Annette Munro

National Treatment Centre in Inverness receives extra £2.6m

Thousands more operations will be carried out at the National Treatment Centre (NTC) Highland thanks to extra funding of £2.6 million from the Scottish Government. The £48 million facility at Inverness Campus opened two years ago to deliver NHS Highland’s entire eye care service plus a range of elective orthopaedic care.

“This centre is one of the most efficient place I have ever attended in the NHS. Well worth it if it can deliver more as efficiently as it does at the moment.” - Jonathan Innes

“Great news - the centre is great and the service efficient.” - Cathy Gormal

“This is a National Treatment Centre covering a wider area of patients from outwith Highlands. Hopefully the extra funds will be able to complete more operations more quickly for those been waiting a while.” - Isabelle MacKenzie

“Great news, such a valuable centre which has been needed for a long time.” - Cathy Macleod
