He successfully argued for bail for his client who was released by Sheriff Gary Aitken for a future court appearance still to be decided.

Laird made no plea to a charge that he assaulted Daniel Mackay on April 13, 2025 in Johnny Foxes and repeatedly struck him on the head and body with a glass, all to his severe injury, permanent disfigurement and to the danger of his life and attempted to murder him.

He was committed for further examination by Sheriff Aitken.
