Tesco staff in Inverness to strip off for calendar in aid of Maggie's Highlands charity
TESCO staff have naked ambitions to raise vital funds for Maggie’s Highlands by selling their own charity calendar.
About 40 members of staff at the branch at Inverness Shopping Park will strip off for the calendar, which will hit shelves in October.
The 24-hour supermarket will close the store for a few nights at the end of June so the pictures can be taken in store, with all proceeds going to Maggie’s Highlands which provides free support to people with cancer as well as their family and friends.
A photographer has been arranged, but they are still looking for a business to produce the calendar for them.
Andrew Benjamin, fundraising manager at Maggie’s Highlands, said he was incredibly grateful to workers at the store.
“The support has been unbelievable from all the members of staff,” he said.
“Hopefully we will do the shoot and then the calendar will go on sale ready for 2018.
“It’s so important that we get the funds we need to keep the centre going and I would encourage anyone, even if they don’t want to hang it up, to buy one anyway because proceeds will all go to Maggie’s.
“If there is anyone out there who can help, it’s a great opportunity to advertise their business for a great cause.”
The idea for the calendar was put forward by Alia McBain who works on the meat and fish counter. She was surprised by how many people wanted to get involved and is pleased to be able to help the charity.
With about 40 members of staff already signed up, there will be group shots for each month and the photos will be taken all over the store.
Tesco community champion Liz Sutherland is pleased that so many people have signed up to take part in the risqué fundraiser.
“We have got a mixture of young, old, male and female and it’s basically to show that cancer can affect anyone at any age,” she said.
The calendars are expected to be available to buy at all Tesco Inverness stores and the Maggie’s Highlands Centre at Raigmore Hospital.
