It was an emotional night for an Inverness-based dad who was named Carer of the Year at Friday’s Highland Heroes Awards 2025.

Liam Bremner was nominated for being a “rock for the family” and his role in caring for his eldest son, Cameron (9), who is non-verbal autistic. He attends Drummond School in Inverness but relies on his dad to support him in every way at home.

Liam, and wife Lucy, are also parents to six-year-old Archie, and the couple both work full-time.

After winning the award Liam said: “I am very very honoured. I was amazed when I was first nominated, then becoming a finalist was a shock. To win it is just amazing.

“Caring for Cameron can be demanding, but is so rewarding and I love spending time with him, he is my world.”

He also said he wanted to dedicate the award to all the parents and carers in a similar situation.

The shortlist included home carer, Lisa Brown, and youth and development officer Wanda Mackay.
