An early morning ScotRail service from Inverness to Aberdeen broke down at Nairn.
Passengers travelling on the 5:49 am service beyond Inverness Airport and Nairn had to make alternative arrangements after the fault developed.
That meant the service, due into the Granite City at 8.05 am, failed to call at Forres, Elgin, Keith, Huntly, Insch, Inverurie, Kintore, Dyce and Aberdeen.
A ScotRail spokesman apologised to customers and said: “This is due to a fault on this train.”
