Beauly Angling Club pays tribute to late former secretary David Sellers, following the death of Kirkhill man; his funeral will take place in Inverness next week
Tributes have been paid to a long-standing and prominent member of the local angling community after he passed away.
David Sellers, from Kirkhill, passed away at Raigmore Hospital on February 2, aged 78.
He was married to his wife Carolyn for 54 years, who was by his side at his passing.
A former secretary of Beauly Angling Club for more than 20 years, its members have said he was “highly regarded” and they will “miss his easy-looking roll casts” and camaraderie.
A club spokesperson said: “Dave Sellers was a stalwart member of the Beauly Angling Club committee, serving over 20 years as the Secretary of the club.
“Being in charge of the membership details and permits, Dave got to know the members well and was highly regarded for his assistance to those new to the River Beauly.
“Dave gave tuition to many fishers coming from other parts of the country and from abroad, showing them where and when to cast their line on our sometimes difficult beats. We will miss his easy-looking roll casts on the banks of the Beauly River and the simple camaraderie with another fisherman.”
Others have also reflected on his passing.
Commenting on his funeral notice, Stephen Miller said: “Sorry to hear, he was lovely friend to my late father and mother and will be missed.”
And Morag Johnson added: “Sorry to hear about David; taught me a few fishing casts on Beauly River. Thinking of his family at this sad time.”
Mr Sellers’ funeral will be held in the funeral home of William T Fraser & Son, Culduthel Road, Inverness at 2pm on Monday, February 17. All are welcome to attend a celebration of "a life well lived".
Donations can be made to Highland Hospice.
