Trio brave the shave for good causes
THREE women outdid their own fundraising target in a charity head shave.
Camilla Bates, Fiona Mchardy and Jacqui Ronald raised more than £3650 with the event at Dores Gala, to be split between the MS Society, Scottish Air Ambulance and Cancer Research UK.
The trio, who had hoped to make £1000 each, also wanted to raise awareness about their chosen causes and demonstrate that people do not need to host a big event in order to raise money for a good cause.
Miss Ronald, who raised funds for the MS Society, said: "I wanted to raise money for this particular charity because I know people who have had multiple sclerosis.
"I thought I would feel a bit more concerned about not having any hair afterwards, but I just felt really pleased with how much I was able to raise for a good cause."
Mrs Mchardy said: "I chose to raise funds for the Scottish Air Ambulance because it is something lots of people benefit from in the Highlands."
She added her cousin had to be transported from Skye to Glasgow by air ambulance after a car accident.
Miss Bates’s chosen charity was Cancer Research UK.
She said: "My step-dad died three years ago from cancer and I wanted to do something for him.
"I do not miss my hair too much to be honest, but my head is a lot colder now."
Donations can be made to the trio’s fundraising page until October 1 at https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/buzzcut#.WvRe0OBimt4.facebook
