Inverness city centre shoplifting spree sees two arrested and charged by Police Scotland





Police have made two arrests after a spate of shoplifting in Inverness city centre.

Six different stores were hit by thefts on Monday this week, with officers from the city centre policing team responding.

A 15-year-old girl was reported to the Children’s Reporter in relation to three of the reports.

A 17-year-old male was arrested and charged in connection with theft from two stores and possession of drugs.

He was due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court today (Tuesday).

Officers are following a positive line of enquiry for the sixth report.

Inspector Emma Wright said: “This is a great example of work by the city centre policing team, showing that our patrols are committed to tackling retail crime in conjunction with retailers and our partners at Inverness Business Improvement District (BID).”
