UPDATE: Popular Inverness busker gets a new dog
A popular Inverness busker has been given a new dog following the death of his beloved Dalmatian Emily last month.
John Casey, who is the only musician allowed to perform at the city's Victorian Market, has been given a 10-month-old puppy called Moby.
It comes after market traders launched an appeal to find a new dog for him a few days ago.
Emily had been his constant companion for more than 11 years.
A spokeswoman for the Victorian Market shared the good news.
"A hugh thank you to all of you who liked, loved and shared our story [on Facebook] and appeal for John Casey. The most wonderful person got in touch with us this week and has gifted John a 10-week-old Dalmatian puppy. Meet Moby.
"This is Mhairi Duncan with Fidget and Lottie [Moby’s mum and sister] and John with Moby.
"We’ll keep you all posted with Moby’s progress."
Mr Casey has been busking at the market six days a week for 27 years.
While he sang hits from the 1960s and 1970s, Emily either snoozed at his feet, in her fluffy teddy-filled dog basket, or snacked on carrot and cucumber slices – after a pancreatitis diagnosis forced a biscuit ban.
