Views sought on city bike and car share schemes

A PROJECT to encourage people to travel differently and to promote bike hire and car share schemes in the centre of Inverness is under way.

The city has a Bike and Go bike share scheme based at the rail station, and an Enterprise Car Club with vehicles parked in various locations in the city centre.

These schemes are designed to provide access to a car and a bike when required, without the hassles that come with owning them.

The project is being run by Impact Hub Inverness and CoMoUK, and they want to find out what people think of these schemes, and if there are any barriers to joining. They are particularly keen to hear from residents in the Crown area of Inverness.

Residents are being asked to share their views through an online survey – and every participant can enter into a prize draw to win £50 of Velocity Café vouchers.

Polly Chapman from Impact Hub Inverness said: “We would like to gather as many views as possible on whether people in this area would consider using the bike and car share schemes that exist, and to encourage them to sign up.

“Also, to find out what,

if any, are the barriers to using these schemes, and

if there is anything that could be done to encourage more people to travel differently.

“Many people don’t know that bike and car share schemes exist in Inverness so we are trying to raise awareness of them, specifically in the city centre.”
