A non-stop four-hour performance by choral singers in front of shoppers in Inverness city centre raised more than £5200.

The annual Carolthon at the Eastgate Shopping Centre was one of the best, says the Inverness Choral Society which has divided the proceeds its 2024 partner charity, the Highland and Islands Blood Bikes.

The money will go towards the volunteer service of co-ordinating and transporting vital medical supplies, laboratory samples and even donor breast milk for new-born babies throughout the NHS Highland area and regularly beyond to Glasgow and Perth.

The choral society will put its share of donations towards the expense of venue, orchestra and professional soloists in its two concerts each year.

The choir chooses a different partner charity each year and all the proceeds from the event - donations and sponsorship - are shared equally.

This coming year will be the 40th Carolthon which is now a popular event on the city’s festive calendar featuring a wide variety of seasonal music from White Christmas to excerpts from Handel's Messiah.

Since it first started, the choir has raised around £80,000 for local charities.
