A group of volunteers was hard at work to bring more colour to Nairn’s streets — with the help of local residents.

Keeping Nairnshire Colourful (KNC) had planted snowdrops in various areas of the town, including the riverside, among the trees in the Cemetery Field and at the Leisure Park.

After this year’s display, the group collected hundreds of snowdrops, bagged them up and handed them out to local residents to plant alongside the paths through Viewfield in a bid to prepare the area for next spring.

KNC Chair, Annie Stewart said: “Having organised several years of splitting and replanting the snowdrops all along the paths at the riverside with the help of the community, we decided to make a change this year and add more clumps to the few that already exist in Viewfield Park.

“We hope that the snowdrops planted now will survive the dry spell and put on a good display next spring.”

KNC volunteers have also been out tidying the beds in the town ready for the first visitors over the Easter holidays.
