Walkers and cyclists in Inverness have been reminded to 'stay safe' by a painted pebble placed on a popular city walking route.

Amateur photographer Andrew Cregan, who takes a daily walk around the Ness Islands, came across the stone reminding people to stay safe during the lockdown.

Nationally there has been a move to get people to create similar stones for their own locales.

Members of Facebook group Positive Pebbles Alba said the stones are easy to do, and can be a good activity for children during the current lockdown.

Founder Heather Thomson said: "Normally, I'll add a base coat of acrylic paint to cover the stone and let it dry. Sometimes I spray paint a batch, sometimes I just leave the stone natural.

"Once dry, I then use acrylic paint pens.

"Once dry, I then apply two thin coats of yacht varnish, leaving plenty of drying time between coats. I do this on a drying rack with paper underneath then put the rack in our airing cupboard so that they are out the way and dry quicker."
