General Election 2024: SNP win in Moray West, Nairn and Strathspey
SNP candidate Graham Leadbitter has been declared the winner in Moray West, Nairn and Strathspey.
The result of the tight run race was announced at 5.20am
Votes were as follows:
Neil Alexander (Lib Dems) -3785
James Hynam (Labour) - 8259
Graham Leadbitter (SNP) - 14,961
Euan Morrice (Scottish Family) - 423
Kathleen Robertson (Conservative) - 13,960
Steve Skerrett (Reform) - 3490
Draeyk Van Der Horn (Greens) - 1676
Mr Leadbitter lives in Elgin and is a former leader of Moray Council.
He has been a long-standing representative for the Elgin South ward on the local authority.
The turnout was 60.49%, with 46,721 people voting out of an electorate of 77,243.
Moray West, Nairn and Strathspey stretches about 75 miles from north to south.
Amongst the settlements included within its boundaries are Aviemore, Elgin, Forres, Grantown, Lossiemouth and Nairn.
