WATCH: Inverness girl's excitement as she learns McDonald's has reopened; Long queues as Inverness McDonald's drive-through reopens
It has been a long lockdown for an Inverness youngster, made even longer by the closure of her favourite place to eat.
But seven-year-old Teighan Clarke was all smiles when she learned that the McDonald's drive-through in Inverness has reopened.
Mum Lee wanted to share the joy of her daughter, who attends Raigmore Primary and has high functioning autism.
She said: "We just wanted to make everyone smile as much as we did that Teighan was so happy that McDonalds had re-opened.
"Everyday of quarantine Teighan has asked if McDonald’s is open and if not why not, and when will it be.
"So this morning she was delighted to hear it had been re-opened and we could get food to take away."
The family made a video of Teighan, and after sharing it on their social media pages saw what a lovely response it was getting, so wanted to share it more widely.
Mr Clarke said Teighan has really loved being in lockdown, but was missing her friends and McDonalds, of course.
She said: "Because Teighan lives with autism she has to do a lot of things that make her uncomfy, like wearing a school uniform and lumpy socks.
"So during the lockdown she has loved having a bit more freedom about what she can wear and is enjoying being at home with her family.
"If she could she would be at home all the time for her school work."
By 3pm this afternoon queues at the drive-through at Inshes Retail Park almost reached the roundabout in Inshes Road.
According to staff it had been the same since the branch opened at 11am with the majority of motorists happy to wait in line.
