Reversing driver mounts parked car on Elgin High Street

A driver managed to mount the car parked behind them on Elgin High Street earlier today.

Footage shows the Toyata Hybrid going backwards at such speed that it ends up on top of the red Mercedes.

However, witnesses say that moments earlier the driver had also reversed over a motorbike.

The red Mercedes was left with a shattered windscreen and both dents and tyre marks on its bonnet and roof.

Its owner said he'd just spent £2800 on his vehicle two days beforehand.

He added that he'd only come into Elgin to get a cup of coffee.

Kemal Eren, who owns Keith Best Kebab, stated he was feeling a mixture of emotions.

He said: "I was sitting outside Starbucks when my friend came up to me and said my car had been badly damaged.

"I feel bad but what can you do?

"I'm happy nobody was hurt.

"And, after all, it's only a car."

One shopkeeper's CCTV captured the incident, which happened between 12.30pm and 1pm.

He described it, tongue in cheek, as "just a typical day in Elgin".

The shopkeeper added: "I was sat in the back having my lunch when I heard an almighty bump and ran outside.

"The footage shows the woman reversed and hit the bike into the car.

"She then went forward again, before going backwards so quickly that she went right up and over its bonnet."

Witnesses stated that nobody was hurt in the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers were called following a road traffic crash which happened on the High Street in Elgin at around 1pm on Friday, April 7.

"The crash involved a car, a parked motorbike and a second parked vehicle.

"Emergency services were contacted to attend. Drivers exchanged details."
