On attending the festival for the first time, she said: "It's wonderful. Nairn is such a beautiful place.
"I have a quote in my head which was used to describe the work of Kathleen Jamie, which is the confluence of nature travel, and culture and it seems to me that this applies very well to the festival and its themes this year.
"It's the dream gig to be a writer in residence in such a beautiful location, here in Nairn and the Highlands, getting to meet so many interesting people in such an awe-inspiring place, so I am really thankful to the festival for inviting me this year."
Saturday will close with a live performance by comedian Fred MacAulay.
The festival will come to a close on Sunday with a parade full of creative events for all ages, performances, live music and artist and storyteller Lizzie MacDougall will be speaking on the day.
