Anyone looking at Inverness Castle would see scaffolding has popped up around part of the building.
One of the most photographed venues in Inverness by locals and tourists is looking less picturesque than usual as thousands are expected to visit the city for the free Hogmanay event.
It has been erected as part of ongoing work to transform the castle into a must-see tourism venue.

Hoardings were placed around the site several months ago.
A Highland Council spokeswoman said: "The scaffolding around the castle will be in place for the duration of the construction contract.
"It will enable the contractor to work on the exterior of the building, including the stonework, downpipes, lighting and repairs to the roof and windows."
