Police were called to an Inverness guest house after a woman complained to the night porter there that she had been sexually assaulted.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that Kyle Wignall (23) of Olaf Road, Kyleakin, had been staying at Corrdon House in Inverness's Union Street on October 25, 2023 when the incident occurred.

Sheriff Gary Aitken was told that Wignall messaged the woman several times around 2am for her to come round to his room and, when she arrived, he was intoxicated.

Fiscal depute Adelle Gray said: "They sat side by side on the bed, but at that point he bent down to face her, held her hand and tilted her head up to try and kiss her.

"She moved away and then told him to stop. But he turned her head again and kissed and bit the side of her neck for about 10 seconds.

“She managed to push him off her and went back to her own accommodation and told the night porter. Police were called."

Wignall admitted a charge of sexual assault and sentence was deferred until April 10 for a background report and an assessment for a sex offender's rehabilitation programme.

Wignall was immediately placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
