Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Evita lyricist Sir Tim Rice delights Inverness Musical Theatre members during visit to Highland capital
One of the most famous names of the musical stage has delighted an Inverness theatre group after popping in to recount his remarkable career.
Sir Tim Rice is the world-famous lyricist behind such stage classics as Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Chess and more.
His work also includes lyrics for the classic soundtracks to the likes of Disney’s The Lion King, and Aladdin.
But away from his more world-famous credits he is also the honorary president of Inverness Musical Theatre.
And he stopped off in the city during his tour of the UK with his show - "Tim Rice: My Life in Musicals - I Know Him So Well" - to meet up with some of IMT’s members for a chat before his performance at Eden Court Theatre on Friday night..
“Sir Tim, we were delighted to meet you, and we are incredibly grateful to you for spending some time with us yesterday evening. Thank you!” said a delighted spokesperson for IMT.
“And the show itself? An entertaining, informative, good-humoured and humble account of the great lyricist's career, with some incredible musicians on hand to deliver brilliant renditions of a small selection of his best work - we would highly recommend it to anyone who can still catch the tour!”
