LEADING lights in the creative industries flocked to the Highlands for another hugely popular XpoNorth showcase.
Scotland’s leading creative industries conference, this year’s XpoNorth ran at Eden Court in Inverness on Wednesday and Thursday and attracted top figures from across the globe.
More than 2000 delegates were also on site, travelling from across the Highlands and Islands to take part in the extensive conference programme which covered everything from screen and broadcast, music, craft, fashion and textiles, to writing and publishing, digital and technology.
The former chief knowledge officer at NASA kicked off the first seminar of the conference followed by back-to-back sessions with BAFTA award-winning writer and broadcaster Stuart Cosgrove, Mogwai’s own Stuart Braithewaite, plus a global keynote with A&R consultant at Universal Music Publishing, Dougie Bruce.
Throughout the day were live acoustic sessions hosted by Netsounds with rising music stars Cara Rose and Keir Gibson.
The conference also featured a special keynote address with Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor Ian Hunter (who picked up two statuettes for his work on the blockbuster Interstellar and last year’s hit film First Man). Finnish film director Timo Vuorensola and Screen Scotland executive director Isabel Davis also attended.
The festival continued into the evening with music performances at a host of venues, a short film programme and a range of relaxed networking events.
