Lily Hey of Nairn meets Prince William and Kate at Kensington Palace and is up for BBC Radio 1 Teen Heroes award

INSPIRATIONAL fundraiser Lily Hey has come face-to-face with royalty after being nominated for a major award.

The 13-year-old from Nairn is in the running for a BBC Radio 1 Teen Heroes award for helping to raise money for the Team Hamish charity established by her family in memory of younger brother.

Hamish Hey died aged eight after an almost lifelong battle with cancer.

His family have worked to honour his memory by raising cash for the charities which helped him throughout his fight, and to create a new splash park on the waterfront at Nairn.

More in today's Highland News and tomorrow's Inverness Courier.
